Sea Buckthorn Askola (Female)

A compact, German-developed female cultivar of the sea buckthorn, Hippophae rhamnoides ‘Askola’ is a fast-growing, deciduous shrub with silvery, willow-like leaves, particularly suitable for coastal sites or stabilising dunes. Vigorous, tolerates drought. The berries, profusely borne in late Summer, are medium to large, oval and deep orange. They are rich in Vitamins C & E, antioxidants and omega 3 oils, and are used for a tasty, highly nutritious juice. Needs a male pollinator – we supply ‘Pollmix’. Important food source for wild birds.
