Flowering Cherry Fragrant Cloud
One of the Matsumae hybrid cherries bred in Japan, Prunus Shizuka is a medium-sized, vigorous, deciduous tree with a markedly spreading habit, grown for its stunning spring blossom and good autumn colour. The long oval, pointed leaves emerge bronze, turning mid-green in summer and orange in autumn. In May, the young leaves wonderfully set off masses of pure white, semi-double flowers which fade to pale pink, and, most unusually for a flowering cherry, are beautifully scented. Flowering cherry Fragrant Cloud makes a beautiful specimen tree for a fairly large garden.
