Rosa Souvenir du Dr Jamain – Climbing Rose
A stunning, repeat-flowering hybrid perpetual rose, Rosa Souvenir du Docteur Jamain is a small, deciduous climbing rose (or rather lanky shrub rose) of average vigour, with few thorns and mid-green foliage. In July there is a big flush of beautiful, fully double flowers, of a gorgeous velvety claret-colour and with a strong, complex, rich Old Rose scent which carries on the air. Smaller flushes follow until September. Climbing rose Souvenir du Docteur Jamain does very well on a north-facing wall, and should anyway be planted out of midday or afternoon sun, as strong sunlight tends to fade the gorgeously rich colour of the flowers. This rose tolerates poorer soil, but it’s best to plant in the best conditions you can; it needs moist soil or watering, as it can be prone to powdery mildew.
