Leatherleaf Viburnum
A graceful, architectural plant giving year-round interest, Viburnum rhyditophyllum Willowood is a large, fast-growing, evergreen shrub with a neat, bushy habit. The glossy, oblong, strongly veined leaves emerge covered with greyish felt but turn deep green above and pale and silvery-grey underneath. In June and July pure white, lacecap heads of tiny flowers emerge from silvery buds, standing out against the leaves; black berries sometimes follow. Leatherleaf viburnum Willowood is good, structural plant for any style of garden, and a great foil for showier perennials. Can also be grown as an informal hedge.
